Wrap and Ruffles

The bride was getting married in a marquee in the grounds of Dartington Hall and wanted the cake to be very tall and elegant. Each tier in this cake is two cakes stacked on top of each other - the finished cake was extremely high!

The fondant has been wrapped and folded around each tier and dotted with tiny flowers, each tier finished with a fabric effect sugar bow. The cake wad then finished with a covering of pearl lustre dust so that it shimmered. When I set it up I was pleased that the pleats and folds of the cake fitted in perfectly with the draped interior of the marquee.
