Pond Life

This cake was made for the thirtieth birthday of a keen fisherman. I had a lot of fun making the water snails and the dragonfly not to mention the sparkly-scaled fish leaping out of the cake.

The waterlily was made from flower paste and the bullrushes made from brown icing rolled in cocoa powder to give them the required fuzzy finish.

I'm told that the snails were much cossetted by the younger members of the birthday party and I wish I'd made enough for the children to have taken one home each.
