I made this cake for the 2006 NEC Cake Show so, sadly, there's no cake inside - just polystyrene. I adore making cakes in glorious rich colours filled with abstract siwlrs, pearls, curved shapes and swags. One day the phone will ring with someone wanting something as stunning as this for their special cake ...

I mixed my own colours for this cake; combining lustre dusts with paste colours to get the exact shimmering shades I wanted. Each tier is painted with confectioner's glaze to give it a sheen. This cake took me hours and hours and hours - it's still in my kitchen as I haven't the heart to dismantle it!
