I created this cake for some lovely neighbours of mine who were having an evening wedding with a black and white colour scheme. The bride wanted something quite dramatic and I designed this cake with a lot of height and texture to create that drama. I love the feathers which bobbed and fluttered in the marquee during the reception. The height is created partially because I always bake my cakes to the top of the tin so they're good and deep and partly with polystyrene 'separator' layers between each tier which I covered in ribbon and feathers. The cake is a rich traditional fruit cake, a moist dense cake which helps greatly when stacking a cake of this size. To discuss ideas, please
